MDA Singapore Visit to MDA HQ
In the mid ‘90s we at Muscular Dystrophy Australia played a pivotal role with the establishment of the Muscular Dystrophy Association in Singapore so it was pleasing to rekindle that relationship when MDA Singapore’s Executive Director Sherena Loh, accompanied by several staff, visited the MDA headquarters in North Melbourne this week.
A visit to our head office culminated their quick tourist visit to Melbourne. A highlight of their trip was visiting the Great Ocean Road and the Twelve Apostles. They explained that confusion ensued when they counted the landmark’s apostles, leaving them many short of the advertised twelve, and we had to explain that the weather, erosion and the pounding seas took its toll on this remarkable coastline.
During their brief visit to MDA, we had the opportunity to exchange program ideas; discuss publications; and confirm a commitment to send a team from Singapore to one of our CampMDAs.
What was quite amazing were not the differences, but the similarities, between our organisations’ direction through the range of programs and services delivered to our respective MD communities.
A tour of our facilities closed off a friendly and long-overdue visit.
We look forward to greeting members of MDA Singapore to a future CampMDA.
