National TV cross to MDA HQ by “Sunrise”

MDA Executive Director Boris M Struk has been recognised as a Paul Newman ‘unsung hero’ as part of the 2007 Newman’s Own Foundation $1 million grant program.

Paul Newman has donated $46,000 to MDA to help complete the extensions to the MDA’s holiday house, “Wheelies’ Rest”

For MD members and their families it was an early morning start, arriving at MDA by 6.30am for a hot breakfast in Café MDA, prior to the live cross at 7.15am to the “Sunrise” program which is broadcast nationally.

Helium filled balloons created an atmosphere fit for the celebration where young and not-so-young MD members formed the local audience. Boris accepted the huge credit card which represented the $46,000 donation to the MDA by Simon Reeve from the Sunrise program on behalf of Newman’s Own Foundation.

Boris said “I am humbled by this donation and accept this on behalf of the 1 in 1,000 Australians affected by Muscular Dystrophy.”

“It will Make a Difference” he said.
