The most exciting part of organising ChallengeMD! at MDA, is to create even bigger challenges every year for those who dare.
Following the success of ChallengeMD! from 2006 to 2008, Muscular Dystrophy Association is proud to present the Challenge for 2009, trekking through Nepal.
ChallengeMD! is a two part challenge – raising funds for muscular dystrophy, and a physical challenge overseas. So far, MDA has received over $1 million in fundraising, and taken over 60 people on previous trips.
2006 saw a bike ride through Vietnam, Cambodia was the destination in 2007, and 2008 was a challenging ride through China. Time to shake things up in 2009 with ChallengeMD! changing to a trek through Nepal.
ChallengeMD! 2009 Nepal promises breathtaking views, amazing wildlife, and hard work with fantastic reward. Right now, MDA is calling you to join in what will be our best challenge yet!
Executive Director of MDA Boris Struk has been on every ChallengeMD! since inception. “ChallengeMD! is physically the hardest thing I’ve ever participated in – but every day you’re on the challenge, you wake up and remember that you’re helping so many families in the MD community, and that you’re challenging yourself to succeed in the toughest of environments. The personal reward is magnificent” says Boris.
Participants will leave Melbourne on the 16th October for Kathmandu, and return on the 30th October 2009. The in between is the big sell! Historic villages, rhododendron forests, Langtang Khola River, and Langtang Glacier are just some of the many exotic destinations in Nepal that will be visited.
Most importantly, all proceeds will go towards research and much needed services for Australians who are affected by neuromuscular disorders.
There’s now a bigger way to help families living with muscular dystrophy, taking yourself on the trek of a lifetime to Nepal!
