ACTIVITIES

Tuesday 17th April – Upon arrival at camp we had lunch and settled in our rooms. A town tour of Maldon was in the afternoon but for the older campers and their carers, they sat in a café and drank coffee. After dinner we watched a video and had an early bed time.

Wednesday 18th April – Off to Bendigo today. We went to Living Wings and Things where we saw lots of reptiles, birds and dingo’s. Following a browse at Bendigo Pottery we headed back to camp in the late afternoon where we unloaded and got organised for dinner. After dinner Richard, a story teller, joined us and told some Australian poetry and stories about the history of Maldon. He involved some of the campers in his skits and they seemed to enjoy it.

Thursday 19th April – In the morning the younger campers went to the yabby farm. Nobody caught any yabbies but we had fun trying. We had lunch at a park nearby to camp. It was nice to have hamburgers out in the fresh air. Following lunch we had some free time and of course the lolly shop was raided. We made dome damper and Billy tea for afternoon tea and it was yummy. Our party in the evening was great. We had our own DJ who played a great mix of music. Some had a really late night and of course there were some seedy feeling people the next day.

Friday 20th April – It was a late wake up for most. A hearty brunch was served for those with hangovers and also those without. The standard camper/carer photos were taken and we said our goodbyes to those who weren’t coming back to Moonee Ponds for the drop off at 2.00pm.

HIGHLIGHTS

The weather for the week was amazing. The camp site was sensational and so were the staff.

Everyone enjoyed the lolly shop, going o Bendigo and DJ Kylie Wallace.

The talking parrot at Living Wings and Things was great.
