MDA welcomes tertiary allied health students who would benefit from the opportunity to apply real life knowledge and skills from their studies.
MDA provides student placements both on and off site, running four camps per year which allow clients to have 24 hour 1:1 care. The client experiences a wide range of activities and the carers get the all-important opportunities to care for a client that has a disability. The cares also come to know and understand the effects and limitations of MD, skills and knowledge they carry into their professional career.
CampMDA, Operation MD! ShortBreak and Operation MD! SWAP present other volunteering opportunities, and for many students, they often return to care for clients as they develop a strong relationships both with MDA and the client base.
Community placements and forum presentations are another opportunity for tertiary students to complete work based placements and work placement hours for final assessment. This all forms part of the strong support base for student placements and education that MDA is proud of.
